Researchers from Kaspersky Lab have discovered a malicious loader called Slingshot, which is actively attacking users through routers for last six years without being detected. Typically, the routers download and run a number of DLL (dynamic link library) files from the devices. The attackers used routers to add a malicious DLL to the package of other legitimate DLLs. These malicious DLLs compromise the connected devices by targeting the memory. The vulnerabilities were discovered in routers made by MikroTik. The users of MikroTik routers run WinBox Loader software for router connectivity. When this software is run, the device is connected to a remote server to download Slingshot malware. Researchers said that this malware includes two modules called Cahnadr and GollumApp, which enable data theft. Amsterdam, The Netherlands – EvoSwitch, an international and cloud-neutral colocation company with large data centers located in Amsterdam and Washington DC with their cloud interconnection platform EvoSwitch OpenCloud, announces its plans to build a new highly energy-efficient data center in Amsterdam. The new carrier-neutral facility in the Netherlands will be located adjacent to its existing Amsterdam premises, EvoSwitch AMS1.

The new EvoSwitch data center is the first phase of a major facility expansion, with a roadmap to expand capacity up to 30 MVA in the coming years. It will add 6,000 square meters (sq. ft.) of colocation space, offering 7,5MW of new capacity to the company’s existing 15MW data center campus in Amsterdam. EvoSwitch’s in-house engineered modular data center building concept features 2N electrical redundancy and ‘Indirect Adiabatic Free Cooling’ with hot and cold aisle containment. It would allow for a low Power Usage Effectiveness figure (PUE= 1.2) thus resulting in a highly energy-efficient and reliable colocation data center environment for customers. Nova Scotia, Canada – DemoWolf, producer of video support tutorials for the web hosting industry, today announced that effective immediately, they’ll be providing their video tutorials to web hosting companies who want them in their websites, for free.

This announcement comes on the heels of DemoWolf implementing a new business model about a year ago. At that time DemoWolf moved away from custom branding their video tutorials and selling them to web hosting companies – a service they’d offered since DemoWolf’s inception in 2005 – to instead offering a membership service whereby hosting providers could sign up to embed their video tutorials into their websites for a monthly fee.


This latest announcement however, seems to take their business model change to am entirely new level. Although there continues to be paid membership plans with more options, DemoWolf now offers a free plan that still allows companies to embed their video tutorials into the knowledgebase or support pages of their websites.

The kicker as they say, is the video tutorials served through the free plan will have a short 5-10 second video ad play before the support video plays. In addition, ads will be a maximum of 10 seconds long, and will show a “timer” indicating when the ad will be finished and the main video can begin.

Instead of a hosting client calling or submitting a ticket to their hosting provider with basic questions, they can instead search for an answer online, and be presented with a video tutorial that will walk them through their solution.
