NEXTDC P1 offers 3,000 m2 of technical space and is strategically positioned near critical network, power, and submarine cable infrastructure. P1 delivers WA businesses seamless and secure access to NEXTDC’s national partner ecosystem of 600+ partners, comprising the leading public cloud platforms, ICT services providers and the nation’s carrier networks. This PoP is Hurricane Electric’s first in Perth in and fifth in Australia and will provide enterprises in Perth and Western Australia with improved fault tolerance, load balancing and congestion management in the delivery of next generation IP connectivity services. Customers of NEXTDC in and around Perth now have a variety of new connectivity options and access to Hurricane Electric’s extensive IPv4 and IPv6 network through 100GE (100 Gigabit Ethernet), 10GE (10 Gigabit Ethernet) and GigE (1 Gigabit Ethernet) ports. Additionally, NEXTDC’s WA based customers are able to exchange IP traffic with Hurricane Electric’s vast global network, which offers over 20,000 BGP sessions with over 8,000 different networks via more than 250 major exchange points and thousands of customer and private peering ports.

Bamboo Systems’ patent-pending Parallel Arm Node Designed Architecture (PANDA), is a revolutionary new approach to server design, crafted to meet the demands of both modern software structures and the challenge of energy-hogging data centers. PANDA-based servers use embedded systems methodologies designed to run modern microservices-based workloads while consuming minimal energy and delivering industry-leading density for high throughput computing. Kubernetes-based applications, edge computing, data analytics and AI/ML deployments are solutions that are well suited for Bamboo.


Bamboo’s PANDA-based systems utilize Arm processors and deliver individually balanced servers by reducing many of the well-known traditional server architecture bottlenecks, often caused by very large processors having to share limited resources. Each B1000N system can be configured with either one or two blades in 1U, with each blade containing four compute nodes and a non-blocking embedded L3 switch exposing dual 40Gb QSFP uplink ports. Each compute node is an independent Arm-based server capable of running Linux, or other compliant operating systems. Nodes use a SolidRun COM Express Type 7 module utilizing the NXP®Semiconductors Layerscape LX2160A with 16 Arm Cortex®-A72 processors with up to 64GB of DDR4 ECC DRAM, hardware accelerated dual 10Gb/s network interfaces and an integrated PCIe NVMe drive, up to 8TB.

A fully configured B1008N consists of 8 servers providing 128 cores, 16 DDR4 memory channels to 512GB DRAM, 24GB/s to 64TB of NVMe storage, fed through 160Gb/s network bandwidth – all in a single rack unit – at approximately 50% of the cost of a traditional Intel-based server.

Bamboo servers include a web-based interface, the intuitive Pandamonium™ Management Software, based on Bamboo’s REST API for integration with orchestration platforms. Pandamonium provides control over system configuration, status updates of components, and the ability to power off individual compute nodes if they are not being used, enabling additional energy savings.

B1000N Series benefits include:

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – Digital Realty (NYSE: DLR), a leading global provider of cloud- and carrier-neutral data center, colocation and interconnection solutions, announced today a new 7.5-year power and renewable energy credit agreement with Citi to supply clean, renewable energy for Digital Realty’s portfolio of data centers in the Dallas, Texas region. This contract will advance Digital Realty’s environmental and sustainability goals by supplying approximately 30% of the company’s power needs in this market.

The transaction provides Digital Realty with over 260,000 megawatt-hours of renewable energy annually, which represents 55% of the wind generation project output being developed by Bearkat Wind Energy II, LLC. The energy provided through the 162-megawatt project in Glasscock County will serve a portion of the power needs of Digital Realty’s 13 data centers in the Greater Dallas, Texas region.

The wind power agreement represents another significant step Digital Realty has taken to extend sustainability initiatives across its global portfolio. In early April, Digital Realty was named a 2020 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for its efforts to protect the environment through energy efficiency achievements across its data center portfolio. In 2019, Digital Realty certified an industry-leading 29 data centers under the ENERGY STAR program.

The new wind power agreement builds upon Digital Realty’s long-term renewable energy strategy. In 2019, the company announced an additional 50 megawatts of renewables to support its data centers in Ashburn, Virginia and signed a green tariff agreement with Portland General Electric which will supply approximately 120,000 megawatt-hours annually to its new development project in Hillsboro, Oregon.

Digital Realty is employing several renewable energy strategies to increase the portion of renewable energy available to power its data centers and locking in advantageous energy pricing for the benefit of its customers. The renewable energy from the Texas project is expected to be available to customers beginning in June 2021.
