LITTLE ROCK, Ark – Windstream Wholesale, a flexible provider of advanced network communications, continues to expand its services to high-demand data centers, by establishing a presence at the Equinix NY5 International Business Exchange™ (IBX®) data center. As a part of this expansion, Windstream Wholesale will offer fully diverse 10 and 100 Gig Waves to the ecosystem of companies operating within Equinix’s New York metro data center campus, which is located in Secaucus, N.J., and offers a highly scalable platform with more than 90 network service providers.

Windstream Wholesale expects to be built into the Equinix facility by July. However, urgent network capacity needs continue to grow, so, in the meantime, Windstream has provided a creative temporary solution for one of its established partners, Seaborn Networks, a leading developer-owner-operator of subsea fiber optic cable systems. Windstream delivered four 100-Gig waves from Ashburn, Va., to the international landing station in Wall Township, N.J., to meet Seaborn’s immediate expansion needs. When Windstream’s build is complete at the NY5 IBX, it will move two of those waves to Secaucus.

“We are pleased with Windstream Wholesale’s new presence at Equinix’s New York area data center campus. We have been partnering for some time and this new, diverse route between Secaucus and Ashburn will enhance and enrich our ability to serve our customers through Windstream’s network in U.S.,” said Michel Marcelino, senior vice president and head of Latin America for Seaborn. “I look forward to expanding our connectivity together, offering resilient services for our customers both domestically and internationally.”

“Windstream Wholesale continues to expand our data center portfolio with our presence at the Equinix NY5 IBX, which provides diverse, low-latency access to a massive electronic trading ecosystem and major cloud service providers,” said Joe Scattareggia, executive vice president of Windstream Wholesale. “We’re excited that this location has enabled us to enhance our partnership with Seaborn Networks, and our ability to meet their expansion needs even before our build is complete speaks to the creativity that we bring to client relationships.”

“Windstream Wholesale is a valued participant in the ecosystem of world-class providers offering their services on Platform Equinix®,” said Adam Janota, senior director of business development at Equinix. “Windstream’s 100 Gbps Wavelength service offers a strong option for the core backbone capacity needs of Equinix customers seeking low latency connectivity between our Secaucus, N.J., and Ashburn, Va., data center campuses, providing a diverse path between the New York and Washington, D.C., metros that avoids Manhattan data centers. The more than 500 businesses operating at Equinix’s Secaucus data center campus will also benefit from Windstream’s direct access to Seaborn Networks’ sub-sea capacity.”

Los Angeles, CA — RackNerd LLC, a dedicated server, complex hosting, cloud, disaster recovery, colocation, and infrastructure services provider today announced the launch of its new product offering: DDoS Protected Virtual Private Servers (VPS). DDoS Protected VPS services, powered by KVM virtualization, will be deployed out of its new Los Angeles DC-05 facility, featuring 60Gbps of DDoS protection included with every plan.

Its on-the-fly engine fine-tunes distributed denial-of-service attacks in real-time to mitigate even the most sophisticated examples — mitigating attack traffic that would otherwise result in downtime.

With security and uptime emphasized, this sophisticated protection service proactively detects and filters complex network security threats. The result: a seamless experience where end-users encounter no downtime or increased latency.

“In recent studies, it has been found that a single DDoS attack costs some businesses as much as $2.5 million in lost revenue. With network related attacks evolving to become a serious concern for businesses around the globe, very few fine-tuned, proactive mitigation solutions existed in the marketplace until now.” discloses Dustin B. Cisneros, CEO of RackNerd LLC.

The destructive impact of DDoS attacks can result in website downtime, degraded server performance, website vulnerability, and most importantly: lost time, productivity, and revenue. An analysis by Kaspersky Lab Research announced that DDoS attacks are continuing to rise globally, costing both financial and reputational damage for many organizations.

“In these times where online presence is more critical than ever before, it is essential for businesses to have a plan in place to mitigate today’s sophisticated network attacks. Our enterprise-grade DDoS mitigation service is designed with the future in mind. DDoS attacks of all shapes, sizes, and types are stopped automatically without any manual intervention from our customers. New attack patterns are learned and systematically filtered.” Cisneros added.

Businesses looking to deploy upon DDoS protected infrastructure can now benefit from RackNerd’s new product offering. To learn more, please visit: https://www.racknerd.com/ddos-protected-vps

NEW YORK AND TEL AVIV, ISRAEL – Zero Networks, the pioneer in zero trust networking, today announced the release of TrustMeter, a new free tool to help organizations better understand how much excessive network access exists inside their network.

According to Gartner, Inc.: “Excessive network trust leads to excessive latent risk. Network connectivity (even the right to ‘ping’ or see a server) should not be an entitlement; it should be earned based on trust. This excessive network trust will inevitably be exploited, leading to breaches and bringing legal, financial and regulatory exposure.”*

Risk due to excessive employee network access has always been a reality for businesses. However, with many employees working remotely due to COVID-19, this problem is now bigger and more urgent. It is easier to compromise a machine in the home network that is connected to an organization’s network than it is to compromise company-owned assets. Add to that the fact that since the start of COVID-19, hacking and phishing attempts have increased by 37% month-over-month, and it’s easy to see why organizational networks are at more risk than ever due to that excessive network access users have.

“Users and machines have way more network access than they need or ever should. This means that once an attacker compromises one machine inside the network, it’s easy for them to spread and do whatever they want,” said Benny Lakunishok, CEO, Zero Networks. “TrustMeter maps this excessive network trust and provides easy-to-consume visibility of this issue to IT and security teams so they can take action.”

TrustMeter extracts assets, entity, and identity information, and actively scans all assets to provide detailed information on what is accessible and vulnerable to exploitation. Scans can be run from any machine in the network to determine various scenarios, including:

-What risks remote workers are introducing to the network (VPN risk)
-Where an attacker can spread once they have taken control over one client machine inside the network
-What could be accessed if any server is compromised (data center breach)

Reports collected share complete analysis of each of the above scenarios, including more granular statistics on the composition of IP ranges and assets in the environment. Having a clear view of excessive network access has never been more important, and TrustMeter measures and maps this risk within an organization.

TrustMeter is a free tool that is available now to the community to help measure the risk in every network. The tool is being offered alongside Zero Networks’ announcement last month that it is offering its automated network control service free to companies in industries hit hard by COVID-19. To start using TrustMeter, visit the Zero Networks TrustMeter blog at https://zeronetworks.com/blog/introduction-to-trustmeter.

About Zero Networks:
Zero Networks prevents attacks from spreading and causing damage by automatically restricting network access to only what is normally needed, nothing more, for every device across the entire environment. The Zero Networks Access Orchestrator enables organizations to achieve a self-sustaining, zero trust networking stance, with no IT intervention required, by enabling legitimate users to use 2-step verification to access new devices or make rare connections. With Zero Networks, there are zero hassles, disruptions or worries, there is just trust in the network.

*Gartner “Zero Trust Is an Initial Step on the Roadmap to CARTA,” Neil MacDonald, 10 December 2018

CHICAGO, IL – NTT Ltd., one of the world’s largest data center and technology services providers, today announced that its Global Data Centers Americas division is rapidly passing several key construction milestones as it targets an opening date for a new Chicago data center campus by early 2021. This campus will be a key strategic addition to NTT Ltd.’s global data center portfolio, which operates the third-largest data center platform in the world, with over 160 data centers spanning more than 20 countries and regions.

Located near Chicago in Itasca, Illinois, NTT’s new 19-acre campus will have two buildings offering a total of 72 megawatts of critical IT load. Each of the two buildings will offer 36 megawatts and 250,000 sq. ft. of space spread over two stories. The first six megawatts of critical IT load will be available by early 2021.

“The first building on our Chicago Data Center campus is standing up its core and shell now,” said Doug Adams, President and CEO of NTT Global Data Centers Americas (formerly known as RagingWire Data Centers). “By using modular construction techniques, economies of scale, and carefully planned supply chain management, we have lowered construction costs and will be able to affordably offer all the space and critical IT power needed to help companies grow and scale their data center presence as their business needs evolve.”

NTT chose to build in Chicago because of a compelling list of benefits for data center customers. Chicago has an extensive fiber network, affordable electricity, minimal risk of natural disasters, nearby airports, and abundant amenities. In addition, Illinois recently passed a bill that exempts qualifying data centers from paying state and local sales tax on equipment such as servers and storage racks.

“Tax incentives make Chicago one of the most affordable national markets for data center clients,” said Andy Cvengros, Senior Vice President of JLL. “We anticipate that an uptick in leasing activity will occur in 2020, with major cloud companies continuing to expand in the Chicagoland market.”

The two data centers on NTT’s Chicago campus will be designed with customizable high-density vaults in order to support both single-user and colocation requirements of hyperscale cloud and enterprise clients. Power and cooling systems will offer a 100% availability SLA by leveraging a “4 to make 3 design” to provide N+1 redundancy at the rack level.

Choices for network connectivity will be plentiful in a carrier-neutral environment with access to many global and regional carriers, Internet service providers, and cloud services. Clients will be supported 24x7x365 by highly-trained staff experts in operations, facilities management, security, and shipping & receiving.

Itasca is in a prime area for wholesale data centers, which includes Franklin Park and Elk Grove Village. Data center customers will appreciate NTT’s campus location in the Hamilton Lakes Business Park, at the intersection of the new Elgin O’Hare Expressway (I-390) and I-355. Hamilton Lakes Business Park is only 15 minutes from Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport and features the Westin Hotel, the Hamilton Lakes Athletic Club, a daycare center, walking paths around lakes, and various restaurants and delicatessens.

Downtown commuters will find easy access to NTT’s Chicago Data Center Campus through the use of DASH cars, which are 100 percent electric vehicles that go from the Itasca Metra Station to the business park in just a few minutes.
