Chicago, Illinois – (The Hosting News) – August 29, 2008 – The Association of Internet and Hosting Service Providers (AIHSP), has issued a call for industry professionals, to join five distinguished advisory subcommittees.
Paul Hirsch, President of the AIHSP Founding Committee explained, ”Our advisory subcommittees will play an important role in shaping the future of this organization, laying the groundwork for the realization of our goals. Today, we are a small but agile group of dedicated volunteers, and we see these advisory subcommittees as an opportunity to involve the greater community and benefit from the collective wisdom therein. It is crucial that AIHSP be driven by its constituents, and that the energy and founding philosophy be widespread among the vast spectrum that is the web hosting and Internet services industry.”

Tyrone Adams, Ph.D., Director of the AIHSP Founding Committee and the Richard D’Aquin Professor of Journalism and Communications at the University of Louisiana, Lafayette noted, ”The formation of AIHSP advisory subcommittees is critical in terms of getting quality feedback from service providers, and more importantly, is highly relevant in the process of organizational structuration. One of the most important missions of the AIHSP will be to continually generate panoramic snapshots of the industry in action, and build apparatus to address the problems and inefficiencies we find.”
All qualified industry professionals are strongly encouraged to nominate themselves to take part in a subcommittee. The AIHSP Founding Committee will announce the final selection of subcommittee members in early September after careful review of those interested in taking part. Self-nominations may be made at www.aihsp.org/About-AIHSP/Build-AIHSP.php.

Quebec, Canada – (The Hosting News) – August 28, 2008 – Web hosting services company, iWeb Group Inc., has entered into a partnership for a $22M financing agreement, with Goldman Sachs Credit Partners L.P., covering long term growth of the company’s data centers, dedicated server leasing and web hosting operations.
Eric Chouinard, Chief Executive Officer of iWeb remarked, ”With this agreement, Goldman Sachs will provide financing to allow us to further our business objectives.”
iWeb will initially receive $ 10M USD in senior debt, 5 years, 16% and $ 1M in common shares will be issued to Goldman Sachs at $ 1.30 per share, these common shares will be subject to a four-month hold period. A subsequent $ 1M in shares will follow at $ 1.30, subject to certain market conditions. Under the second part of the agreement, Goldman Sachs can provide an additional $ 8M in senior debt with $ 2M in shares to be issued at market price, all subject to certain conditions and performance indicators.
Marc Guindon, Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer added, ”A deal of this magnitude will allow us to continue investing in the infrastructures which are vital to maintaining our growth, which has been outstanding thus far.”
Last year, iWeb’s financial results indicated a revenue of $3.2 million, with a 62% increase in revenues compared to the first quarter of previous fiscal year.
Other highlights included:
– Adjusted EBITDA(1) of $0.8 million, a 65% increase over the first quarter of fiscal 2007 – Closing of a 3.3 million of shares public offering with gross proceeds of $4.1 million – Beginning of installation work of the Nuns’ Island premises for a new co-location data center.
For the first quarter of 2008, consolidated revenues increased $1.2 million or 62% to $3.2 million compared to the same quarter of last year. This revenue growth can be attributed primarily to a steady rise in dedicated server demand. Gross profit margin for the first quarter of fiscal 2008 was in line with last year margin at 54%. The benefits of tight operating cost control were offset by the decrease in value of the U.S. dollar against the Canadian dollar, having a negative effect on Company’s revenues in the last quarter. More than 70% of iWeb revenues are generated in U.S. currency. Total operating expenses for the quarter ended December 31, 2007, were 53% of revenue, compared to 47% for the same three-month period of fiscal 2007.
As discussed, net earnings for the last quarter were impacted by a stronger Canadian dollar against the U.S. dollar, by higher overhead costs in order to support the Company’s growing operations, and by a higher non-deductible share-based compensation expenses which have also a negative impact on the Company’s effective tax rate, increasing it to 42%, from 32% in the first quarter of fiscal 2007.
Founded in 1996, iWeb offers a full line of advanced IP hosting services either through shared hosting, dedicated servers or co-location in three data centers, featuring over 52,000 square feet of floor space and the latest technological equipment. iWeb provides services in English, French and Spanish to clients in more than 130 countries.

Houston, Texas – (The Hosting News) – August 25, 2008 – Shared, dedicated and reseller web hosting firm, Host Gator, has been ranked by Inc.com, as the 21st fastest-growing private company in the country, on its Inc 5000 list.
Brent Oxley, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of HostGator remarked, ”I started the company with a $1,000 budget from my dorm room in Boca Raton, FL. Today the owners of more than 1.3 million websites depend on our hosting service. We are extremely proud of our strong past growth, but we’re really only getting started.” Mr. Oxley, who turned 25 in March, attributes the growth of the company to its commitment to customer service and dedication to providing customers with the best web hosting experience in the hosting industry.
The 2008 Inc. 5000 list measures revenue growth from 2004 through 2007. To qualify, companies must be U.S.-based and privately held, for profit, independent – not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies – as of December 31, 2007, and have had at least $200,000 in revenue in 2004, and $2 million in 2007.
HostGator revenue grew by 5297% during the measured period. In addition to being ranked #21 overall, HostGator was also ranked #1 for growth in the Houston metro, #2 for growth in the Business Services category, and #1 for growth within the state of Texas.
The Houston-based company had revenues of $18,700,000 in 2007 compared to revenues of $326,000 in 2004 and projects revenues over the next 12 months will reach $50,000,000. Since moving to Houston in 2006, HostGator has created over 155 positions for highly skilled technicians and systems administrators. It recently completed renovations to accommodate a large increase in hiring activity and expects to add at least 100 new employees in Houston over the next few months.
In January, after reporting a successful fiscal year, has given gifts to support cancer fighting initiatives, while promoting education in underdeveloped countries.
The company gave $100,000 to the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX, and $25,000 to One Laptop per Child. The gifts were decided upon by HostGator management and staff, including a significant contribution to the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.
In addition. HostGator donated to the international organization, One Laptop Per Child. The Anderson Cancer Center received a gift of $100,000 and One Laptop per Child received $25,000. The goal of One Laptop per Child is spelled out in its name: to improve the educational opportunities for children in underdeveloped regions by giving every child access to an inexpensive, durable, web-capable laptop. At $100 each, the gift from HostGator should provide at least 250 laptops.
The gift to One Laptop per Child was another easy decision, according to Mr. Oxley, ”If it wasn’t for the internet and computers we wouldn’t be in business. If just one of the kids can further their knowledge in computers and make a career out of it, in some shape or form, it will have been worth every penny.”
At Anderson, one of the country’s largest cancer treatment centers, HostGator’s gift will go to support a variety of programs — from research and clinical trials, to education, counseling and treatments. Mr. Oxley says as HostGator continues to grow and earn profits, it will continue increasing the amount of its annual gifts.
Inc.com, the daily resource for entrepreneurs, delivers how-to guides, advice, tools, breaking news, and rich multi-media to help business owners and CEOs start, run, and grow their businesses. Inc.com offers dynamic marketing solutions to help advertisers effectively reach Inc.com’s audience of business leaders.
Host Gator is a provider of shared, dedicated and reseller web hosting services focused on the consumer and small business markets. Founded in 2002, Host Gator provides hosting for over 1.3 million websites and supports over 50,000 resellers worldwide with 24/7 technical support and web hosting tools, including free billing software for resellers and access to over 4,500 high quality free web templates. Quebec, Canada – (The Hosting News) – August 22, 2008 – Internet hosting infrastructure provider, iWeb Group Inc. and subsidiary of iWeb Technologies, will soon be completing its network expansion, to upgrade total network capacity to 15Gbps.
While adding three new carriers, the addition of these three new transit providers will mean better diversity, redundancy and reachability for all our customers and partners.
The following new carriers will be added to iWeb’s Network:
- T-Systems / Deutsche Telekom (In production)
– 3Men@Work / Bell Peering (In production)
– Level 3 Communications (Coming at the end of August)
With the additional transit providers, iWeb will be directly linked to more networks which will result in connections being more direct and more efficient for all customers. These additions will affect mostly the High Quality Network customers, but will also enhance incoming routes for its Redundant Unmetered Network customers; while also providing additional redundancy.
The Unmetered Network upgrade includes additional Cogent Bandwidth.
Once all the upgrades will be completed, iWeb’s network will have a total network capacity of 15 Gbps dedicated to hosting services. The High-Quality Network and incoming routes will combine the networks of 7 carriers for a total of 11 Gbps, while the Redundant Unmetered Network (Cogent-based) now totals 4 Gbps. It is important to note that each part of iWeb’s network (High Quality and Unmetered) is configured to backup the other if necessary and that customers of both networks benefit from all available routes for incoming traffic.
Below is complete list of its network composition:
- 3 Gbps with Videotron Telecom
– 3 Gbps with Tata Communications, formerly Teleglobe
– 4 Gbps with Cogent Communications (Unmetered Network)
– 1 Gbps with Peer1 Network
– 1 Gbps with Priority Colo (TorIX peering)
– 1 Gbps with Level 3 Communications (Coming at the end of August)
– 1 Gbps from 3 Men @ Work (Bell peering)
– 1 Gbps from T-Systems / Deutsche Telekom
iWeb’s first telecom link, back in 2000, was a 100 Mbps link, which had less than 1% of the capacity offered to iWeb customers currently. In the next few months, the company also expects to upgrade its main transit providers to 10Gbps.
Earlier this summer, the company attained ranking among Profit Magazine’s top 100 Canadian companies, based on revenue growth over the past 5 years. From 2002 to 2007, the company’s revenues have gone from 1.35 million to 9.82 million as of October 1st 2007, an increase of 627%; enough for iWeb to make its entry into the 100th position on the annual ranking.
The PROFIT 100 is the annual ranking which rates the top 100 Canadian companies based on the percentage of their revenue growth over a 5-year span. Produced by the business magazine PROFIT, 2008 marks the 20th edition of the ranking.
Founded in 1996, iWeb offers a full line of advanced IP hosting services either through shared hosting, dedicated servers or colocation in three data centers, featuring over 52,000 square feet of floor space and the latest technological equipment. iWeb provides services in English, French and Spanish to clients in more than 130 countries.

Based in Sao Paulo, the 20-year-old company provides webcasting services to some of the world’s largest companies, including Pfizer, Schering-Plough, AstraZeneca, Novartis and Avon, as well as a number of medical societies.
In the past four years, the company has conducted more than 700 Webcasts with thousands of hours of live content to thousands of people in more than a dozen countries. A customer of The Planet since 2005, Atitude previously used dedicated hosting services for managing the company’s complex infrastructure.
Mr. Conde noted, ”We’ve grown rapidly, and we were looking for a company that provides all the services and technical expertise of Planet Northstar. Their Anticipation Advantage methodology helped determine exactly what we needed to create a top-notch infrastructure that could scale with our growth, and at a budget that was workable for us. We expanded our footprint to include additional servers, load balancers, firewalls, SAN storage, managed backup and database management. At Atitude, our core values include being responsive, trustworthy and committed to our customers, and I’m impressed our dedicated account team shares these values.”
Steve Kahan, Vice President of marketing and product management with The Planet added, ”Our development of the Anticipation Advantage enables customers to thoroughly plan their IT infrastructure beyond their needs just today. The methodology also provides key process indicators about when they need to begin scaling, which eliminates the worry and frustration many organizations experience in the face of rapid growth. Equally as important, the account team of highly skilled and seasoned experts is always available to customers so they have the confidence that a knowledgeable partner who knows their business is always available to help.”
In its 20-year history, Atitude has kept a keen eye on emerging market trends. The company was originally known for creating high-quality, computer-generated slides and transparencies for corporate presentations, as well as multimedia productions. Today, it is Brazil’s leading provider of Webcasting services, hosting on average more than one each day from three studios in its Sao Paulo offices.
Mr. Conde continued, ”In the last four years, the Internet has emerged as the best platform for communications, and our client base has moved rapidly for both internal and external audiences. Our clients require extensive training both for sales representatives and physicians, and they’ve found Atitude as the perfect solution to meet these needs.”
The company manages the entire event for clients. They work directly with presenters to host the event, sending notification and reminder e-mails to participants, generating reports on results, providing on-demand access afterwards, as well as maintaining extensive databases for each company. According to Conde, the presentations continue to add value for the companies since each one is typically viewed by at least four times the number of live Webcast participants.
Mr. Conde observed, ”In years past, these companies sponsored semi-annual meetings for their sales forces, but today as new studies emerge or competitive products are announced, it’s critical that they have new data immediately, so they rely on our services to meet that demand. At the same time, if one of these companies hosts physicians at an event anywhere in the world, they can Webcast with us from any venue, and we can support the requirement since our bandwidth connections are incredibly robust. With our capabilities, we make their lives much easier.”
The costs for hosting in the U.S. are five to six times lower than those in his native country. While bandwidth costs are slowly declining, ADSL is more common and far less efficient. In addition, because taxes on hardware are approximately 70 percent, hosting provides far better economic sense for his growing business.
Mr. Conde concluded, ”Making the decision to host overseas was difficult. As our international business grew, I knew it was the right direction for our company. We’ve seen other companies emerge in Brazil, and they appear to do a good job, until the participants begin to load. It’s there they fail. Our speed and reliability set us apart, which makes our offering highly competitive.”
Ultimately, The Planet’s goal is to provide:
- High levels of network capacity and speed to deliver peak performance
- Instant scalability to handle even the largest spikes in network traffic
- Parallel, redundant, multi-tiered network routing and switching architecture to assure reliability and stability
- Multiple layer network security that prevents Delayed Denial of Service (DDOS) attacks from harming businesses

Newark, Delaware – (The Hosting News) – August 15, 2008 –
Web hosting solutions firm, HostMySite, Inc., has added Hyper-V hosting, to its portoflio of service offerings. Hyper-V is the latest in virtualization technology from Microsoft and is a key feature of Windows Server 2008.
HostMySite.com is offering a powerful standard solution or a customized server based on each client’s needs. Hyper-V is a hypervisor-based virtualization that provides customers with a fast and scalable virtualization solution. With Hyper-V, it’s possible to run multiple operating systems simultaneously on a single physical machine as a virtual environment.
Matt Ferrari, Virtualization Solution Architect for HostMySite.com noted, ”By taking advantage of Hyper-V with Windows 2008, our clients have the ability to take all of their solutions, such as their production and development environments, and simultaneously run them together in a completely isolated hypervisor-based virtual environment.”
With HostMySite.com’s Hyper-V solution, clients get a single hardware server on which they are able to create multiple virtual machines (VMs). Each virtual machine acts as a standalone server running its own operating system, which can be 32-bit/64-bit Windows or Linux. Virtual machines can be configured as application servers, database servers running Microsoft SQL 2008 or MySQL, mail servers, or test environments.
Mr. Ferrari added, ”This technology has brought the reliability of a robust physical environment and combined it with the cost savings of a virtual environment. Additionally, Hyper-V gives tremendous flexibility and ease of management to developers and technology managers who need to deploy virtual environments quickly.”

Web Hosting Colocation Provider, iWeb Group, Releases Financials
Quebec, Canada – (The Hosting News) – August 14, 2008 – Internet hosting infrastructure provider, iWeb Group Inc., and subsidiary of iWeb Technologies, has released the financial results for the third quarter of fiscal year 2008, ending June 30, 2008.
Third quarter highlights include:
- Revenue increased 57% to $4.1 million for the three months ended June 30, 2008, compared to $2.6 million for the same period in 2007;
– Adjusted EBITDA increased to $1.0 million for the third quarter of 2008, compared to $0.7 million for the same period in 2007;
– Infrastructure work has begun on the fourth and final phase of the Couture Data Center;
– An additional $2.7 million of annually recurring revenue generated in the third quarter.
Eric Chouinard, President and CEO of iWeb noted, ”’Revenues have continued to grow steadily in the last quarter. This progress confirms the effectiveness of recently implemented strategies to support our growth: the new web site, launched in March, improved management of advertising strategies, and a new operational structure in the Company’s sales department. Combined with our standard operations, these strategies are generating remarkable results. In the past three months, we have added $2.7 million in annual recurring revenue to our existing revenues, which bodes very well for the upcoming quarters.”
Revenues for the third quarter ended June 30, 2008 totalled $4.1 million, compared to $2.6 million for the same period of 2007, an increase of $1.5 million, or 57%.
The gross profit margin for the quarter was 49%, compared to 59% for the same period 12 months ago. The strength of the Canadian dollar compared to the U.S. dollar is the main reason for this decrease. The majority of iWeb’s cost of services sold is expensed in Canadian dollars, as opposed to revenues, which are perceived mostly in U.S. dollars. In addition, costs attributed to the co-location site on Nun’s Island, which was brought online on May 1, 2008, have affected the gross profit margin, given the modest revenues recorded thus far for this data center.
Operating expenses have increased, from 47% of revenues one year ago, to 49% of revenues for the third quarter. These additional operating expenses are the result of higher financing costs, due to increased debt facilities, this despite a decrease in sales expenses, the result of the improved management of advertising strategies.
Adjusted EBITDA increased to $1.0 million, or 23% or revenues for the third quarter ended June 30, 2008, compared to $0.7 million, or 27% of revenues for the three months ended June 30, 2007.
Net earnings for the quarter ended June 30, 2008 are close to break-even, at $13,210 or $0.0005 per share compared to $200,848 or $0.0085 per share for the corresponding period of 2007. This decrease in net earnings is the direct result of the lower gross profit margin.
Earlier this summer, iWeb attained ranking among Profit Magazine’s top 100 Canadian companies, based on revenue growth over the past 5 years.
